The saga of my brother and his pets. At one time he had quite a menagerie: 6 dogs (Big Dogs!) 2 cats, 2 parrots and rabbits....he was getting to be like Noah a bit. Well we figured he was compensating for not being allowed dogs as pets when we were growing up. He eventually got over the compensation issue as now down to 2 Dalmatians, Dangerfield and his older buddy Clouseau. Dange, or Fieldy or whatever he is being called at the momennt is, as my brother says, a cow. He picked up both the Dals today and Clouseau is much lighter. Poor Clouseau is suffering from congential heart failure and is pretty emaciated. The boys are 14 and 15 years old which I understand pretty good for large dogs.

I called my brother on Tuesday and made arrangements to go there place in Jersey. Even if I did not want to shoot the boys for this challenge, I'd go there just to see the Kitchen again! They had an addition put on the house and the kitchen is straight out of a design magazine. A flaw or too but they are more functional than visual. Jealousy abounds!

I chose to shoot the guys on the front porch in the afternoon sun. There were some shadows from the trees...they have 3.5 acres and A LOT of trees...but what are you going to do. Having shot my voice teacher's pet Bichon Havanese or Thursday, I found the the images, though very passing, were not quite as sharp as I wanted. I took the tripod but forgot the remote....which was not a bad thing as the shutter speeds were pretty good on these so the remote may not have been necessary. I would have felt more comfortable with it but what are you going to do.

Thanks again to Bev for driving me over to Jersey and back! THANKS, BEV!

Post: Adjustments in Camera Raw in PSElements 6.0. Spot edit some distractions in the background, many of which were latter cropped. Cropped several times and ending with this. Some lens distortion correction to staighten the background. Did some dodge, burn and sponge tool (saturate) and the eyes. Cloned a few excess catch lights in the eyes. Shapened. Closed in PSElements and opened in PSPX2. Clarify. Closed in PSPX2 and reopened in PSElements 6.0. Resize and Sharpen....ooops also did a layer adjustment for levels.

I should have picked one with out the shadow under his chin but....it was still the best of the images I processed. Don't hate it too much....but I suspect I'll hear about it. Oh well!

Nice job capturing the menacing look. I certainly don't want to mess with his territory.

Very cute pup ... what a look. I like the processing, even though it seems a bit strong, I think it works well.

That's one poor dalmatian and i can tell by his looks. Must lose at least 25 lbs. good processing, maybe a tad oversharpened

Awesome processing....faving it for at least that. What makes it not a 10 for me is that stupid corner of the window. Other than that.....PERFECT!!! I hope to see processing steps as this technique is something I really want to learn. 9

7 - Ha, what a character. Nice 'submissive style' capture. Like the window element, and what appears to be selective desat. Wonder about without the window pane, but.. 'another' image.
