The composition is fresh and different.

one a kind, perfect perspective, very creative. the lighting is fine, the framing is very effective. excellent image...ITS OUT FROM THE ORDINARY IMAGES! EXCELLENT IMAGE! GOOD LUCK

Nice. Didn't notice the soles of the shoes the first time. Too bad the hat blurred (looks like a North Face hat?) Love the high key approach to this; doesn't always work on people pix, but great here. I might have included a little more of the window frame at the bottom, but very cool nonetheless.

Interesting perspective and a nice change of pace. Could have worked for Parallel Lines, too. The tip of the shoe is out of focus- a higher f-stop (if possible) would have solved that unless you were simply too close to focus. The blurry North Face type is quite distracting.

Out of everything I've seen thus far, this is my favorite. (There's a LOT of crappy portraits! Congrats on not being one of them.) I like how your shoes frame your face, in a way. The slight tilt makes it appear as it they're surrounding your portrait. :) Well done.

Wonderfully composed. It looks like you tried for a very deep DOF, but you lost a little crispness in his shoes. If it had worked and it was all in focus, it would have been great. But, since you didn't quite get it all, maybe it would be better with a little less depth ... then it would look purposeful, at least.

Cool framing

Great angle of view! - 8

Seems that it is a difficult focus on the subject and that too much draws away from the person. Also appears that the person moved with the North Face logo is in motion.

excellent. i love the two part framing. nice arangement but candid enough to not be taken too seriously.

I'm not sure how well this will do overall, but I really like it a lot. The pose, the shoes, the expression, the b/w, the grain--all add up to a clear and strong communication about this man. 9

Very unique approach. BOL

right on!
I know that I can stop here and feel confident that I have found my most emphatic 10.

Relaxed pose. Looks a little like the game got rained out...not too happy. Still I like this. Different POV. Nice one.

this goes against everything I've been taught - showing the soles of the shoes, having props in the way..
yet, it works on a certain level. I might like to see one of his hands to connect the legs/feet with the torso/head. The position of the body makes this look a bit disjointed.

I LOVE this one. I hope you do well. I love the composition and that you've used the shoes and outfit to convey a bit about this person's personality - the real intent of a portrait!
03/15/2004 09:30:57 AM
Very creative shot here. I like it. Face looks a bit grainy or maybe over sharpened.
03/15/2004 04:17:28 AM
Love the distorted perspective - tells a tale! Works well in balck and white.

I don't like the pose at all, but the clarity and the black and white work great together. I'd have rather seen that whole left side of the post cropped out.

nice casual pose...I like the framing that you got with the stairway rails...the writing on the glove is very out of focus, like he moved when you shot really takes away from a great shot...
03/15/2004 12:12:39 AM
Nice idea but the blurriness on the glove/hand is very distracting. I like the idea though, points for creativity. A 7
