I took this a few days ago. This is my daughter Nimue standing by a waterfall that was at the end of a bush walk we had done.
I only added one very subtle texture here, I tried heaps and heaps of others ones but this photo just needs a light touch :)
I am concerned that the rocks in the background are a bit dark and she looks a bit disconnected from the waterfall, did consider cropping the waterfall out but I couldnt seem to get a good crop that toatlly left out the waterfall!
Heres the original

Opened in Raw viewer and played with a few adjustments.
Slight crop
Professional retro action ( this is what made this picture as far as I am concerned!! Thanx Roz :D )
Haneck's forest texture soft light 30%
( check out her port here she has some great textures and she says people can use them :) )

I think this is much more powerful than the original. The conversion to B/W and the subtle texture really make this compelling. Nice work.

Beautifully done, it's a lovely B&W conversion, I see what you mean about her being disconnected from the waterfall but I like it, it gives a nice diagonal line that keeps bringing my eye back to her face.

Hi Charlie! What fun to be back doing this again. :) This is an adorable shot of Nimue and an excellent b&w conversion. I also find that subtle is often the best way to go with overlays on portraits.

Haha - laughing about Judy's "teefers" comment.

Beautiful, Charlie! Love the composition of this photo - and your baby is growing up! Her joy is just popping out of the photo and is in interesting contrast to the dreamy, mysterious BW treatment and textures in the image. Love it.

Joy I read with interest your thoughts on the darkness of the rocks. I must say it didn't occure to me when I was viewing it, but you made a good point - GRIN!

I was then reminded of an image I was admiring earlier today from the last challenge

by Jutilda

I really like the way she placed that line down the middle - I thought it a VERY clever choice, one I don't think I would have thought of myself - maybe it might inspire you too? SMILE!
