Using a picture frame as a "mirror" I setup two identical scenes on either side of the empty frame, voila! Instant mirror... My first entry to DPChallenge..

OK, for those of you who no doubt marked this down as a 1 for using a mirror.. Look again, specifically at the wicks on the candles.. What you are seeing is a empty picture frame with the same scene set up on both sides using identical objects..
Those who bothered to look into it, thanks for voting.. To be truthful I was expecting a higher position but then again for my first attempt I cannot expect miracles, I am still perfecting my technique and if I can place higher on the garbage challenge then I will be happy..

duplicate set of items and an empty frame? Just a guess.. its well done, but the lighting is a bit soft. For all those people that likely recommended this for disqualification (mirror), tell them to take a closer look, especially at the candle wicks. -8

If what I see is not a mirror, this is a eat trick.

Your light, framing and arrangement are all good. There's plently to look at and just a subtle clue that this isn't a real reflection (which is fine by me btw - In my opinion this fits the challenge just fine). My only question here is - why? Why make the reflection so similar that you can't tell it's not a real reflection? I'd bet that many voters didnt even spot it. 6 - floyd

Administrator Note: What you see is NOT a mirror. Then what the hell is it?
the reflected cadle is seen 2 times, once when the light is entering the mirror, and once when it is leaving the mirror. This same phenomena happens when you flip the swich on the rear view mirror in your car....

Clever set up - feels a little dark and very orange, content doesn't appeal overly to me. But clever idea.

Aced… Can't fault this… Lighting is dramatic. I can't quite see how you got the appearance of the double candle flame on the left side of the shot, possibly because there is glass in the frame, but however you did it, it's the icing on an already mouth watering cake… Fantastic inventiveness and superb shooting (10)

It took a second to figure it out. The wick on the candles are the only real give away. Gotta go with a 10 here.

If it's not a mirror, it's clever made! I'm waiting for the explanation and scoring 7 till then!

Nice try! When does the candle light have double images in the mirror?

Cool. The bent wick is about all that gives it away. I take it that is a pane of clear glass rather than an empty frame 'cos the candle at the back has a reflection of the front flame. Yes?

Definitely one of the best pictures in the challange.

Having finally finished working through all the other pictures, there is some stiff competition about. I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop a point 'cos yours looks a little underexposed and grainy. Maybe that's what you intended but with a bit more light, I feel the shot would really pop into life. So 'just' a 9 for you.

This is a neat shot... I'm not sure how well it meets the "literal" translation of reflection, but quite imaginative... Why does it need to meet the literal translation though? Meet the challenge? In a unique way, yes. Composition - A+ Creativity - A+++ :) Overall - 8 - JB

Meets challenge and is a good composition. On a personal level I'd rather not see a cig in the pic...just lost Mom to lung cancer...but I certainly won't judge your picture on that level. Technically good. Good luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious

This is very creative. You can see that it is not a mirror, as the wicks on the candles are different, among other thing. The only thing I see wrong with this image is that it is way too dark.

Very very clever, I had to come back to revise my vote on this one. UNfortunately the near perfection of the pseudo mirror might cause some people to think that this is a real mirror and not sticking to the format of the challnge.... Very creative..

challenge was no mirrors.. :( -setzler.. ok.. admin says it's not a mirror... I'm wondering why you chose to make it appear so... i see now how it is done tho.. the candle wicks are not identical.... :)
