Shot in RAW. Very basic editing. Adjusted hues/saturation to b/w using single channels, added gradient layer, USM at large radius. Crop and noise ninja.

For Melethia...USM at large radius means using the Unsharp Mask filter at a setting such as 25%, 50 pixels, 0 threshold. It provides localized contrast on the image - it is another way to increase contrast - especially in b/w images.

This so nicely shows the play of light with shadow, of straight lines breaking space cleanly and curves effectively undermining the scheme. Delightful.

Great perspective! The buildings on the lower left are a bit distracting though. If I cover them with my hand, the shot becomes just so much more powerful.

This thing looks massive. I like all the various lines created by the structure.

Very interesting shapes and abstract look. I too like the tones and the gradient sky. Well done in b/w! Thanks!

we have bridges like this here, I can picture the rest of the bridge. :) I like that you included the right side in shadow, it adds depth.

Iron, steel, rust, are symbols in literature and visual arts, and how to use them is what I consider when looking at your photo. I worked in mines for a while and think this sight is familiar to me.

Great view of this bridge. Very much contrast, but I like the way how the dark parts from the top/right are almost flowing to the bottom/left light parts.

Steel construction always lends itself nicely to b/w photos. I love the shadows and direct sun lioght in this photo.

You certainly got a good perspective for this shot :) Just a little too contrasty for me (or my monitor). Love the shadows on the counter weight but would have preferred the white not to have been blown out

Is the gradient layer for the sky then? I have to say that this is what caught my eye first. I love the clean tone transition in the sky. Love the perspective with the bar leading up to the right.

Nice perspective, but what makes this shine is the high contrast.

Thanks for the tip on large radius USM. The wide angle is great.

I like the way you got up under it and took the wide angle shoot. It really makes the thing stand out - well done.

"USM at large radius" means and does what? I love the grandness of this and am quite impressed with the tones and the clarity, especially given all those straight lines (that usually have jaggies when one tries to sharpen them).

This is great, Peter. I am a huge fan of construction type photos for some reason. I guess because I have to take so many of them for my work, but this looks very cool in black and white. I like the perspective making this look larger than life from where you took the picture.

I like it!

Please, pardon the pun, but the word actually begs the question, "If it's a mystic draw bridge, then did a pencil come up out of thin air and create a picture on a big piece of paper or does it actually exist?"

Now this has strong lines with good contrast! Great job! :)

What a bizarre piece of equipment! Is it used to open a drawbridge? I like the oddness of the image - the impressive machine, a little warp on the building next to it. It made me want to look at it for more than a few moments - there are so many bits to be intrigued by.
