My little girl Lara (4) is full of childhood fears. So here is my tribute to the little girl facing all those fears. I actually shot this in her bedroom and I have to make sure she won't see this picture. She'll be terrified.

The guy under the bed is me. A snoot flash lights my hand. The bedlight provides a dramatic look, as well as texture to the wall. Spill light from the corridor provides fill. My other hand shakes the ghost (which I know will go unnoticed by many DPC-voters). I tried to add some dramatic shadows as well, but they didn't work out the way I planned, so I skipped them.

PP:
Channel mixer
Curves
Crop/resize
USM

Use of b/w, overall dark tones and heavy contrast are supposed to add the the dramatic feel of the pic.

No idea how the crowd will like this. Some DPC-voters dislike negative associations, especially if kids are involved. Dark pics are not in fashion either. So I am guessing it will somewhere low 5ish, with some high votes from people loving drama or relating to the theme.

Interesting idea for the challenge – not sure why you decided not to crop out the left wall, without which the image would have more “spooky” effect. Hope it does well.

I love the concept. The way in which you have appeared to use a long exposure time to capture the situattion is this dimly lit room is really impressive. I like such details as the shadow cast by the power cord on the left-hand wall and the pure whiteness a la portal surrounding the night light. I am a little confused as to the identity of the blur to the right of the power socket and wonder if the picture could have been completed without it.

Great idea... but since you can not have a child on bed you could have made a fun title like, "out of time monster" or something like that. 6

Great idea and execution! I think it would be even better if the boogie man were more in the shadows or more of a shadow.

I love it. Very good idea. It took a second to get the point, and the title was a big help. Maybe a "little" more detail on the monster, just to bring it up. Very cool, though. Good work.

aside from maybe a scary shadow, i'm not sure what it is you were trying to portray here. i think the b&w works.

You did it! You have the proof. When I was young I would hear him but when l turned on the light and looked he'd be gone. LOL, I had to say it. Anyway I really like the shot and I hope you do well with it.
