It's Christmas. White Christmas is on the stereo and suddenly the rain turns into snow. If I weren't there myself I wouldn't have believed it. My niece is enthralled. skewsme and I followed her all over the house, catching her at every door and window. The b/w conversion was done with channel mixer. Calculations just wasn't providing the result I wanted. With channel mixer, I fudged with the levers until I got her reflection as clear as possible. It's heavy on the red channel. It's great with such a narrow DOF when you get the face in sharp focus.

I'm honored to hear bucket say that this photo looks natural. She knew I was taking pictures (and so was skewsme!), following her from window to window, but she didn't care. She was captivated by the snow coming down.

Don, this is wonderful. The score is irrelevant (and frankly ridiculous). Excellent conversion too.

I thought "bucket" too...this is a real treasure of a moment. All of childhood in this one instant. Reflection in the glass is fab.

Absolutely priceless, and something that hasn't even begun to be fully appreciated yet.
This is the true value and meaning of what photography is all about in my opinion.
Thank You for sharing it with us!

amazing that a shot that is a perfectly captured moment stands way down in line behind numerous technically strong headshots...
and to be quite honest this shot does look like something I would like to have taken... Melethia's comment is a compliment...
great shot Don...

Oh dear. I risk his wrath by doing this, but again this reminded me of Bucket. Didn't recognize the kid as one of his, though. What a great shot, and an excellent memorykeeper. Magical and all that good stuff!

strong composition, helped by the whole thing feeling natural rather than a forced pose...

I love the rich tones, contrasts, and the classy black and whites. I'm not entirely sure I like the business of the composition though - at first my eyes aren't sure where to go. Nice shot though!

This is a shot that tells a story. I realize this image has those evil blown highlights but that's not always a bad thing. Nice job. 8

Perfect catch of the mouth open with awe. I like the way your subject is lit mostly in the front drawing your attention back to the window where you eventually find her reflection. Top ten I think!
