Challenge: Abandoned Buildings II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Iceland
Date: Jan 12, 2008
Aperture: f/18
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/8 sec.
Galleries: Landscape, Rural
Date Uploaded: Jan 15, 2008

This is one of my favorite abandoned buildings, and when this challenge came up, I decided to go there, even though I had to drive 1000 km. I traveled for two days and got a great weather and took about 1000 shots, among them my blue ribbon shot „Frosty Flow“ in Rivers & Streams, so as you can see, I´m quite happy.
Here is another shot I took

And two older ones

Interesting geology there. Well worth the trip. Is that a basalt sill outcrop along the top of the scree? There are so many fascinating views in your country.

djöfull ertu klikkaður, fórstu alla leið vestur á Horn fyrir þessa keppni. Ég myndi segja að það væri afar hressandi
Eru nú allar góðar þarna hjá þér, finnst eiginlega þessi síst, en góð er hún. Til lukku

Love the depth and beauty of this shot. So much effort that I hope you receive more than just a virtual blue ribbon for this great series! The location is scenic, yes - but your skill in photographing it is wonderful. I like all the shots you took there.

I had NO doubt that one of the rich old abandoned buildings in Iceland would take the podium in this challenge. I'm happy it was yours. This is absolutely stunning as always! CONGRATULATIONS!

I love it when so much effort pays off big time -- and this did, didn't it :)

Traveled over 1000km, stayed there two days, took over a thousand pics - might as well have phoned it in. Next time try and earn the ribbon. :P

Congrats! Truly a spectacular image and I always love it when that amount of effort pays off.

amazing landscape around this building ... the lead in line created by the river makes the shot dynamic... a really good entry!

Wow! Great shot. I would like to see the buildings a bit closer if you are still able to fit in the mountains, sky, and stream. I guess the widest lens possible makes or breaks the photo. And maybe a bit more noise reduction. These are just small points that may or may not help. Great shot. Highest rating so far.

I like it but here (IMHO) i find the water on the bottom part a bit distracting, perhaps a 2:1 pano would be more effective.
