Yes, I so agree - it's heart breaking to see these intelligent and beautiful animals bored out of their minds in small habitats. That said, this is a very poignant photo.

I am not a fan of zoos, but must admit to HATING anything in the monkey family. Still, this captures such sadness. Emotion is a wonderful thing to have. Great compassion with your capture and processing.

Very emotive image. I have mixed feelings about the whole zoo thing. On the whole I think they do some good, and it may be a case of a not perfect life for one animal resulting in research that improves the life of others of his kind in the wild. I'd like to think that, anyway. Some zoos are much better than others at caring for animals, or learning from them, or both. It's the ones that are good at neither that really break my heart.

Yes I not sure deep down that I really like animal in captivity but I love seeing them so close, so accept the fact we have zoos...... This is another great shot, as you have a naxk of capturing the emotions of the animals. Well done gitl.....

Roz, I was reading one of your comments on another thread where you said it looks like you live at the Zoo!!! hehehe..you are so clever! I chuckled out loud!

Please keep showing us your wonderful and all-so-touching animal images. It takes a special person to capture an animal's soul in a photo, but you and Sue manage to do this as regular as the sun shines!

I'm telling you whenever animals see my camera they turn their backs on me like your Zebras, and animals tend to like me..even my own birds and cat do it. Animals practically beg you to take their photo! So keep it up...please?!!

Maybe you are doing a zoo animal's side challenge with a side challenge. Love the zoo shots, keep 'em coming.

They really don't seem to take too well to living in captivity, do they? Too intelligent for it.

Breaks my heart completely into pieces. You sure captured the bleak sadness and hopelessness of this chimp. They are such social creatures in the wild. Thanks for sharing your amazing images of the animals Roz. I am touched to my soul. I know this sounds silly to say this on a public forum, but I am sending this chimp reiki energy and prayers.

Excellent detail in this shot. Another travesty of mans need to dominate.

Love the PP. And never fear, you obviously live close enough to the zoo to have it count as home (for me). This photo is heartwrenching, yet very compelling too.
