this is composite of two photographs taken at taronga park zoo yesterday at the bird show .. it started at noon .. its 15 minutes into the show .. i know that coz i can see the time on the guys watch !!!

the guy with his hand out is the bird handler .. the white bird, which is a galah, was flying towards his hand with a coin that the handler had sent him to fetch from a person holding it up in the audience .. the galah landed on the handler's outstretched hand and placed the coin in his pocket .. he thanked the the person in the audience for the donation !!!
wikipedia - about the galah
the other bird is a barking owl .. the bird handler had chosen the young girl before the show to be a volunteer .. he placed a large glove on her arm and called the barking owl to him .. it landed on the glove .. the woman you can see below taking photographs is her mother .. you can see the barking owl just after it took off from being on the girl's arm ..
wikipedia - barking owl
all the birds that were in the show were amazingly well trained .. they'd come out to the small grassed area where the handler put them thru their paces and then when he'd finished with a particular bird it would fly to another handler to be put back in a cage ..
it was amazing ..
i processed this image today .. its a crummy process because i had no sleep last night .. i decided to put it in our side challenge for day 7 coz i dont think i'll be doing anything else ..
this is without the overlay of the barking owl photograph ..

after 11 comments and 2 favourites .. never in my wildest dreams, and they're pretty wild!! did i imagine that this composite would appeal ..
& seeing ppl have asked how, this is the workflow ..

Roz, Your progress into digital art, from your simple and well spotted images, is no less than amazing. This composite is one of the most artistic "photographs" that I have ever seen anywhere. It looks very much like a hand drawn and colored exhibit poster. It's a great little window into the essence of the bird show.

I absolutely adore this, Roz!! It reminds me of one of those religious paintings (without the religious content) that is supposed to inspire you to faith. It's so joyful and pretty - I'm very impressed by it.

The processing makes this look like a painting. Happy to hear you don't live in a zoo.

Ah Roz, you are your own worst critic. I put this as a favorite immediately. My favorite of yours so far, and you have a tremendously strong set to date.

I think the processing is rather fun. Sort of a 3-ring circus effect, with tons of activity and lots to look at.

This reminds me of something you'd see in a child's book or vacation pamphlet. Still pretty cool.
