This is an outtake from my foggy Friday on the way home from Kingston in Richmond at about 2.45am. It's not as strong an image as the one I selected for the Perspective challenge but I didn't have anything else to submit for this challenge and I'm really trying hard to keep up with them, even if it means submitting something that I'm not 100% proud of. Then again DPC voting is a constant source of bewilderment so who knows. On my scale I think this would do a 5.5-5.7. We'll see.

PP: white balance, curves, contrast, blacks and convert to B&W from RAW file, USM, noise ninja and resize in PS.

Post Challenge: DPC crowd voted it 5.6, so pretty much bang on my prediction. I'm definitely now back to shooting for myself and not for DPC votes. If I happen to do well, great...but it's the exercise that I'm enjoying. The voters are perplexing and I don't share their taste (which sometimes I think is good).

A commenter called this a "candid" but it is a carefully composed and executed photo, almost text book. The triangle of lights, the leading lines which lead into a spot of light draw the viewer in to look more closely at the image, a lovely balance of black and white, vignetting on the edges to make the scene more intense, the couple, place in the rule of thirds point of interest are out of focus perhaps suggesting the movement of a couple through space and time as they make a life together, the road symbolizing the pathway of like leads to a bright spot of hope. The repeating streetlights reminding if mini suns saying that day will follow day will follow day, adding a fourth dimension of time to the photo. Theres a LOT more in this photo than a "candid". Look again voters.

PS - I don't enter many challenges, that doesnt make me a troll voter, I don't take great photos but I DO like to look at great photos.

I LOVE this candid image. Nice use of b/w too, it makes the foggy night and lighting look so cool!

This is worth a second look. If there can be an OOBIE in a Free Study, this is it. Unfortunately, I fear you will not score as high as you should. Therefore, I will do my part - 10.

This would be great if the people were sharp.
