I had two pictures for the FS, this one and another which I knew will score higher
.
I eventually went with this one as I liked the mood in it, but there is no hiding from the sharp eyes of DPC members who count pixels and noise, and indeed most of the comments I got were about the noise (which I increased intentionally trying to give the picture more of a David Roberts drawing look)

Prefer this one to your outtake and it was one of my favourite pictures in this challenge :)

Nice combination of sky and old castle :) I would crop it a bit more to the left though :D

Looks like you may have gone with a high ISO value. Did you pass this through some noise reduction software? It might help get rid of the noise.

very dodgy HDR/Tonemapping. Wouldnt of hurt to clean up a bit of the noise with neatimage.

This is a wonderfully minimalist image with lots to look at. I like the hint of the city, only a small amount showing, hidden anyway by the walls, a reminder of the greatness from the title. I feel like a pilgrim just arriving, the huge amount of sky reminds me how long the journey has been. I wonder what others will see?
Just having another look and letting you know that you're in my top 5 for this challenge:)

That looks really neat, I like how the sky looks. The building looks like it would be very interesting to check out.

Lovely sky. Photo looks a little pixelated overall.

This needs more foreground in my opinion. Wild sky, though.

A bit too mich processing and noise here I think - the sky does not benefit from it.

I like the contrast between the sky and building. I like the overcast tone. This piece feels very moody to me.

I like the graininess of this, like a sand painting.
