I SO know how you feel! Living in Seattle and seeing the mountain off in the distance on a clear day is just one of the most amazing sites. Communicating the mountain along with the city is sort of the holy grail of Seattle Photography, I guess. And it's a really tough shot to get. I tried many shots of this as well and decided in the end that I couldn't express the whole scene on 'film' as I saw it. That's a big part of photography, I think - editing reality. If we were meant to capture the entire scene as it really existed, photography would be mostly 360 degree 120mm film loops :) Anyway, 6.66 is a very respectable score.. good job!

No, don't take away Rainier, Rainier is what makes this photo better than the #2 photo. Cityscapes in general aren't that interesting except for postcards, Rainier makes Seattle stands out far more than other cities.

Thank you to all for the great comments about my photograph. Some of you appreciated the time and effort taken to get this shot. I froze at this spot for 5 hours and took dozens of photos in all sorts of light. I felt it was important to include Mount Ranier, in fact, I thought that it was, as one of you said, the icing on the cake. But it was a double edged sword. If I had cropped it, I might have taken 2nd place! LOL

Another outstanding shot of the Seattle skyline! I like this one a lot... just wish Mt. Rainier in the background were more discernable, but probably not much you could do about that :-) --9-- sohr

It's too bad it's so hard to really get Rainier to stick out in this picture. I've tried several times myself! Nice exposure on the needle. A little too much dead space along the bottom. 7.

This is just fantastic! The skyline is awesome, and the mountain in the background is just icing on the cake. Welcome to my limited world of 10s!

I like it. Nice composition. I like the splash of color in the right corner. Let me guess: you got at least 5 comments saying the colors were disctracting. 8

Seattle is a picture perfect city from a distance by itself. What I like most about your angle choice is the inclusion of the mouintain in the far background.

The best of the Seattle skyline photo's IMO. I like the small areas of vibrant color. Interesting composition. Nice photo, one of my top 10 for the week!

bonus points for including the mountain. you and that other guy must live like 2 blocks from each other, y'all should go into business together making hometown postcards.

Nice... i like how Rainier is floating in the background, i loved it there this summer. This is definitelly the best out of all the seattle shots, at least there is something contrasting and different than the skyline of the city. pagnaini 9

Very nice, including Rainier...but you missed the experienced project! (About half way up Queen Anne?) I think I would have preferred the space needle on the 1/3 line, it's the bit attension draw (along with the BIG R!) Upgraded to 9 Swash

Breathtaking view. This really meets the challenge !!! I love the time of day this was taken. Not so dark that you get no detail. Nice job ! Shiiizzzam

very nice shot with the mountain in the backround... I bet this shot is not so easy to get at this time of day and catch better lighting on the mountain... I don't particularly care for the darkness in the lower portion of the frame... are these trees? = 6 - jmsetzler

Really nice, I like the mountain shape over the merry go round roof shape, helps the whole image slide off to the right-

Beutiful skyline photo, and nice use of the "negative space" to draw out the image. I too tried to use the critques from last weeks challenge to anhance my photo. Was yours intentional?
