Thanks for masses of good comments (and faves too!).

There was an earlier edit, with less contrast and ting:

I was wandering around with camera, thinking in terms of some sort of aged artifice, like JuliBoc or posthumous's entries, when I just came across this brief shadow play.

Here's a picture of the location (different lens):

Speaking for myself (and I scored this one high already) you'd have gotten a full point more from me if you'd entered the less-processed version, which I think is utterly lovely. Great shot.

This one is quite beautiful and I would have expected it to score higher. I love how it looks like the birds are flying towards the shadow tree.

Great shot Raish. I like the angles and the rule of thirds. Nice score too.

I pretty much thought this totally rocked, though I doubt anyone actually says that any more. Excellent example of how the everyday has significant moments of wonder.

The shadows remind me, in a good way, of the veins in a heart. The house is glowing with life. It looks as if the gable is translucent and the light is coming from within. I really love the contrast in this image and the warm colors. And I don't mind what appears to be over-sharpening, because this image is so simple in its composition that the white outlines give it a clean crispness.

This reminds me of one bird being captured at different points of flight. So cool that they're just trailing each other this way.

Always a pleasure to see a photo that makes you stop and take notice. There's a lot of vitality flowing through the veins of this image. If there was such a thing as infinite beauty this is fast approaching it.

This is neat looking. I like the pattern of the birds conforming to the shape of the roofline. This has the appearance of something that was just a lucky snapshot that you caught, but it really works for me. The birds have little to do with the gable, except that they are there, but it comes off like a collage.

A bit too contrasty but I love the geometric elements and the line of birds.

I'd like to see the top of the triangle but capturing the moment when the birds where in just the right spot is far more important.

The bird formation is wonderful along with thte shoadow of the tree. I could see this being top 10 - the border to me is grabbing too much attention and unnecessary.
