Detrimental to the environment !

Greetings from the CC, the idea here is not bad however technically I have a few thoughts. Keep in mind the backgrounds of what you are shooting, i.e. in this shot it would of been eay to move the chair so it is not in the frame. Shooting on aperature priority (if possible) or portrait mode would create a greater depth of field allowing us to focus more on the subject than the extraneous details. A central compostion is very hard to pull off IMO, moving your subject off to left or right can do lots to add a bit of interest to a shot. Also IMO i think you need to be careful with borders, sometimes they can enhance an image, other times they detract from it, really need to ask self which you would like to accomplish.
just some thoughts, hope it helps.
p.s. I admire your willingness to set a printer on fire for a shot!

Haha, funny! Too bad you could have put it on cinderblocks or floating in the pool or something. The table and chairs really take away from the photo

The fire is very nicely exposed, but the printer destruction seems pointless. Crop in really tight to minimize the distracting furniture and don't bother with the border- would you really frame this?

the background is a bit distracting

Did ya crack your glass table top?

reminds me of office space :)

I have had the some feelings about printers! Chairs in background are distracting.

The concept is good and I really hope that was an old printer you torched! I'm not usually one to complain about borders but the thick orange part of the border tries to steal a lot of eye time from the actual picture - it may be because the image space is quite small.

The background was distracting. Those chairs draw attention away from a pretty dramatic subject.

This is a bit of a drastic measure to take for D P C LOL!
good detail

Border kills the picture - but WOW.
03/04/2004 05:02:23 PM
The background lessened your score dramatically to me.
03/04/2004 03:43:12 PM
you had some fun with this challenge!! Border round the picture is a bit dominant
03/04/2004 12:45:47 PM
you have no idea how many times I've wanted to do this...
03/03/2004 08:55:21 AM
Interesting idea... I like it a lot.
03/02/2004 10:29:18 PM
You must have really hated that priner...must have been an HP
03/02/2004 08:17:53 PM
That must have been fun :o)
03/02/2004 01:31:11 PM
o.k. a burning printer, but totally taken out of its normal environment. I am not suggesting you should have set it on fire in your house but some more attention to the surroundings would have helped here.
03/02/2004 11:27:44 AM
don't u hate it when that happens?
03/02/2004 07:44:26 AM
lol very funny lol
03/02/2004 01:06:41 AM
Just wondering what you were going to do with that old printer, eh? The border is way too much and the picture is so- so. The printer might have been move more towards the center of the table and I think you might have considered pulling the chairs out of the frame.
03/01/2004 08:25:16 PM
I would prefer to sell it! ;)
03/01/2004 07:11:48 PM
Wow. BUT that background is so banal and distracting. Presumign this was a staged shot (!) then it would have been greatly improved by a background more in context or totally neutral 9black, white etc.
03/01/2004 07:01:56 PM
oh how many times that i wanted to do that
03/01/2004 03:39:16 PM
This is a dramatic image, but I wish it had been isolated. The table, chair, grass and dog face detract from the moment. This could have been a winner!
03/01/2004 11:37:09 AM
Bet that smelt good while it was burning!
03/01/2004 11:24:54 AM
This would have been more effective (I feel) if you had taken the back gorund out of it. Not very convincing this way. Still a neat idea and good image. BOL
03/01/2004 10:30:18 AM
Who keep a printer in his back yard? :)
he,he... ;)
Nice picture!
Sorry I can't vote!
03/01/2004 04:44:25 AM
Nice idea but the background is too busy for me.
03/01/2004 01:22:15 AM
LOL what did the printer do to you. Must of mad a bad print. Very creative.
03/01/2004 12:05:38 AM
HAHAHA!! That is AWESOME! I don't really like the border though, i feel it draws too much attention away from the shot. Really funny though! ;)
