Hmmmm.....Well I shot like s**t in November. I was distracted by something...now what could it have been. OH yes! Today was my last day of work after a little more than 10 and half years. I left in tears. Still don't know why....guess it was the relationships you form and the people you got to know, cause the job had turned into a tedious morass of crap. Oh and there's that I don't know WTF I'm going to do next! Not a clue. I've been here twice before and the one thing I hope I do not do is to take the first thing that comes along like I did before. So we'll deal with it in due course.

Well, sorry about that but I had to put it somewhere. I was standing outside in the late afternoon in early November. I saw some interesting sunset color on big billowy clouds by City Hall. I crossed the street and got a better look and went back in to get my camera. I got back outside and took several images. This was one of the first I took. It was a little underexposed on the the tower but the sky looked good and there was enough light left on the hall so I processed it and this is was I got. No flowers, for once, or the dreaded net water shots. So I hope you like it. Thanks.

Post: Converted from Raw in PSElements 3.0. I don't remember exactly everything else. I'm sure layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation were done, they usually are. I probably used Power Retouche Dynamic Range Compressor. I know there was spot editing of dust in the background. I processed the hall separately from the clouds by using a layer mask. Then I did another mask of the hall to bring out the darker areas. I know I use NeatImage on the background and not the hall. Sharpened. Resize. Sharpen.

Bummer about the job, but enjoy the hiatus. What comes next is an adventure - always is! I like the shot because it's real - not overdone, not oversaturated. And don't not do flowers unless you don't want to, because you have a rare gift for portraying emotion with flowers - lots of people try, but for some reason, you pull it off better than anyone. You could skip the net shots, though. :-)

Robert, you got a similar score to a free study entry I had last fall, and I think for similar reasons: it seems to be tilted to the right (might be an optical illusion), the blue sky is pretty noisy, and it just didn't hold my interest that much. I also agree with L2 about not getting a story from it (not that my entry has any story). So between my earlier entry of a tower against a sky and your glass shots, we switched places this time.

As for your work life, I'm glad you got out of a bad situation and I wish you luck. Come down to DC during your hiatus and we'll go shooting together. :)

Alas, poor Billy Penn penned. It happens to dabblers in real estate. Very nice lighting.

nice soft light, intersting catch of the last beams hitting the tower.

I like how the light is coming through the clock making the left clock brighter then the rest.

Beautiful subject, too bad about the scaffolding. I'm just not sure why the scaffolding is important to the scene - it doesn't seem to be part of a "story" that you are trying to tell with the image. With that said, the exposure is nailed, the sharpness is right on, and technically the image is pretty spot-on. As a presentation of art, I'm just not getting the story piece of it. Still, I'm impressed with the detail and sharpness so it's getting a good score. :)
