Divine Wind is the literal translation of Kamikaze to English from Japanese. This guy certainly looks like a dive bomber, though I doubt much it's his final mission. Taken in Virgin Island National Park, St. John, Caribbean. I used the sports mode to capture action, which resulted in not-so-good colors. Let's just say the sepia conversion was necessary, LOL.

Just as wonderful as when first viewed. (I kick myself for giving a 9 instead of a 10, and double applaud you for entering it).

What a work of art this is - that sports mode was a blessing, you may never have taken this processing route without it. :)

You have a lot of scores that are far better than this but this has got to be right up there with "Her Favorite Dress". It's good to see the old Catherine back,

Such a great shot! The processing makes me want to reach out and touch it!

Excellent vision. Great title as well. Sub-six scorers, look here and take heart, because if voters can do that to this picture... well, you know.

Those who are in the know understand the value of this shot. Don't let rookie viewers diminish its worth.

I can not for the life of me understand the DPC crowd sometimes. This is an amazing image, so much sketch as much as photograph. I think I underrated the image during voting myself. I only gave it an 8

popular 40's stylistic motif, in gritty gravure edit. Nicely made 8.

Ah, here it is. :) I still love it, even if I can't vote on it. In fact, it's going in my faves. It seems like a painting or a woodcut to me. The bird's shape and your choice of composition add so much energy to the shot! I also think this is a great example of how putting your subject off-center can be so powerful.

Well, this is my pick. Not often you see someone do something totally new, and this is it. Did you add texture? Is that legal? I hope so, 'coz this is awesome.

Looks like an illustration from about 100 years back. I like it.

I think this is the niftiest shot, Catherine. I love the detail on the bird, but really love the diving stance you captured - amazing timing and focus to get that - I'm in awe! (Comment only, no vote.)

W-O-W! One of the best shots I've seen on here. I've gone through 300 shots in this challenge, and this is by far my favorite... I don't see how this doesn't score top 10.

I think this image would have been much better without the texture/filter. Its really strong but I am distracted by editing.

Is this really photo?! Looking at it again and it's like a shot way back in time, the bird looks almost from the dinosaur era!!! Great post processing in my opinion to get this effect, well done... only minor things I would have changed would be the white blobbies on the water and on the mountain

not sure I like the overall effect added to this... would have liked to see what it looks like without it

Reminds me of a print in an old seafaring book, I especially like the bird in this image, not too sure about the rest :)
