a candid snapshot of a friend and his wife. I used gradient map to black and white and then curves to make the darks and lights darker. Slight rotate and slight crop. resize and USM.

I'm particularly proud of this because it's on manual exposure. The sunlight was bright and the shadows were dark, so I set it at an exposure that I thought would be good for a sunny day, and let the shadows be dark. Turns out, the detail in the shadows is pretty good, too, but my highlighted areas are not blown out. The sky wasn't blown out, either, but you can't tell so much in b/w.

excellent wonder. most of my photos are a surprise, but in this case I saw the shadow and was trying to capture it (though not for the challenge. I'm not that foresighted!).

You're getting scary good with both the street stuff and the B&W. Didn't vote or even peruse this challenge so I'm a bit sad I missed this originally.

I can't believe this didn't score higher. I gave this a 7 in voting. I was quite impressed with the cross on his face.

I thought the cross on his face fit perfectly with the title and was therefore very clever.

nice portrait, sharp and detailed, but the cross-shadow on his face is distracting me a bit :-(

Difficult lighting conditions. The shadow on the face is not ideal but strangely adds interest. Good choice going for the mono conversion. Street photography is usually to complex for colour
