Don't ask why I had a brick sitting around here almost ten years. Something to do with a sore back some time ago, I think.
Post processing:
Adjustment layers for Levels, Brightness and Contrast, Hue and Saturation.
USM, Neat Image....hmmm....a little neat image I did not want to lose the texture so there is noise...Resize.

Good choice of subject.

The rose looks alittle out of focus, but that might just be me.

Interesting mixture ~ soft and hard textures.

The picture overall looks like it could do with a little sharpening and possibly greater DOF to get full front to back in focus.

Nice composition but I don't think you quite nailed the texture element that was potentially there.

I like the rust color of the brick- and appreciate that you can see that color in the rose too.

Nice thinking, nice idea for a contrast of textures. compositionally, I don't think this works - the relative angles of the two subjects is unharmonious, and the exclusion of so much of the rose (and perhaps also of the brick, though less so) seems restrictive. Your lighting hasn't allowed very much of the textures to come though however - it seems too general, not allowing those little graduations of surfaces to show.

not bad but not great - nothing much eye catching.

Good idea and nice texture. Only one thing. The more I look the more I realize that I can not get the center of this picture. My eyes run from the rose to the stone... Maybe you should have focused only on the rose

I like the concept, but I think a deeper dof so that the flower was as focused as the brick would have been better.

This shot just doesn't grab my interest at all for some reason. I think part of the problem might be the brick being behind the flower seems to lose some sharpness of focus which is so important in conveying the texture.

[World Record Attempt]
+ There is texture here.
- Composition isn't very appealing; photo feels a little soft.
