Bad taste!

Strangely, I find myself liking this after I got over the initial 'ugh' factor. I like the fact that you've included as much context as you did, but the sand, which may be the best textur point is *almost* lost. 7.

Interesting shot, but I wish the fish was a bit more to the right of the picture.

I like the texture of the sand, the little grains of different colors are great. You shouldn't have put your subject in the middle of the frame, offset it a little to the side, and up or down..

Hehe, I like the photograph.. I can't tell how you're pushing the idea of texture here in the image.. If you're referring to the sandy beach, I guess I feel that it sits backseat to the fish as main subject. I can't score you too well for the image but I'll give you a 5 anyway.

Ooo.. Gross. The sand 'Texture' saves this shot. The fish gets you originality.
02/20/2004 11:36:28 PM
Yeah, I feel like that sometimes too...
02/20/2004 08:04:35 PM
Quite disturbing.... The texture of the sand is interesting, but the composition doesn't emphasize on it.
02/20/2004 02:37:56 PM
Interesting choice of entry. Take away the fishhead and crop away the water and cliffs on the top and I think you would have a very good entry with regards to the theme... But it is a pretty cool picture... Kind of like it...
02/19/2004 08:17:05 PM
Actually the sand on the beach makes great texture, the fish head, I think hurts the photo more then helps it. Good luck.

[World Record Attempt]
+ You are brave to submit this photo; I think not many people will it very much :). There is more than enough texture present.
- Composition could be better. The rocks in the background should have been included more or if that wasn't possible you should have chosen a different POV. At the moment it is a bit of a mixed bag: what is important the dead fish or its surroundings?
02/19/2004 04:03:15 PM
That is a very smelly texture. I don't think this will sell many prints :-)

talk about anti-DPCish. interesting find and a nice bold move by posting it.
02/19/2004 01:11:23 PM
I might have cropped this a bit different. Background is a bit distracting to me. Like how you captured the texture of the sand.
02/19/2004 11:39:45 AM
What a find - and an ugly looking little thing too. Centred composition shows a lack of consideration in framing the shot - in fact has a real snapshot feel. Why exclude the range of rocks behind? Why not use the sea as a backdrop to it? Very intersting object, but quite poorly photographed.
02/19/2004 11:37:52 AM
Nice attempt here. I would have composed it with the fish not being centered and used a fill flash to knock off some of those shadows a bit.
02/19/2004 05:09:42 AM
Would have liked to see more of the rock outcroppings in background (rather than chopped off) to serve as a complete backdrop to the dead fish. Flaked-up sand around fish and small piece of seaweed distract, but don't add to overall picture. There's no penalty for placing fish head elsewhere, right? ;)
02/18/2004 10:47:10 PM
I would have cropped it vertical, with the smelly thing on the bottom third line.
02/18/2004 07:51:35 PM
GROSS!!!!! But still a 6 for me.
02/18/2004 06:10:09 PM
texture not rreally the subject here is it?
02/18/2004 03:13:13 PM
Anyone for fish head soup
02/18/2004 01:25:00 PM
interesting shot.
02/18/2004 12:43:27 PM
Interesting. Looks like a very nice spot for pictures. I'm not sure that the fish adds anything besides "shock value" though, aestically speaking.
02/18/2004 11:22:00 AM
Two suggestions. One the main subject is too centered ----and ----two the top of the rocks are cut off. The sand and rocks alone would of been a good example of texture.
Not too many will find a dead fish very appealing. I wish you luck in the challenge.

lots of textures in this shot and the fish actually ads a little color nice photo. (7)
