A rose that stayed around too long. Actually it's lying on a piece of raw silk. The overlay is some local sandstone, and I used a homemade brush to add some extra texture. I may have gone overboard, but then my philosophy of life has always been, "If a little bit is good, lots is better".

The subject matter and layering treatment give this a nostalgic, almost melancholy feel. I'm thinking that I might like the composition a bit better cropped in closer on the right. The colors are wonderful.

This is beautiful. The bit of texture puts that rose in a totally different league. Nicely done for sure!!

i totally agree with your philosophy, at least when it applies to this process .. you've given it such a wonderful old fashioned feeling .. i can actually smell roses as i look at this .. no kidding .. !! .. for a dead flower it really is quite beautiful .. :)
