 Luberon is the region of ancient hilltop villages in the heart of Provence. It is associated in history with the bloody massacre of the community of Waldenses (a Christian sect founded by some Frenchman named Pierre Waldo) inspired by Inquisition in the middle of XVI c. This is the village of Gordes.
