i was walking on the firetrail this morning & there were these sulphur crested cockatoos making a racket .. they were flying around and i didnt think i'd be able to photograph them coz they were too far away and moving around all the time .. they landed in a tree that i was walking towards .. it doesnt take much to frighten them off especially when you've got two dogs with you .. you can see the bird is launching himself off the branch just as i took this photograph ..

i'm sticking this kangaroo in here in case lynn ellamay sees it ..

she's holding a mini challenge and is giving away a 175-500mm sigma lens .. we can only post three photographs in the thread .. i'm cheating coz i just couldnt decide which ones to put in the almost free, challenge

Nice capture of such beautiful and FREE birds. Mine are caged. Love your detail and shadows. Notice how the left-hand branch resembles the bird's foot! Beautiful blue sky.

It isn't fair. How can you be such a good photographer AND be so good at processing, too. I think we need to take away your firetrail to keep this from being unfair. I love the light!

Sweet, Roz!! Love the brilliance of the colors and how the bird is looking at you. Great moment captured with the wings spread and all the feathers splayed. Awesome!! Good thing the bird didn't take a little poop on you - they have a way of doing that sometimes. :o)

You'll have to pardon me for not commenting on your many (and I'm sure fabulously wonderful) bug shots. That was just too much bug for me. The thumbs were already making my eyeballs curdle. But birds, dogs, people, and of course cats, that I can do. OX
