Those of you who followed my Fifty Days of all things peeps and Chuck Norris will remember that I started out with a few feeble attempts at family and wholesomeness before the sickness took over.
Here we see a similar attempt. And I feel the bug coming on. But honestly, it's only fair that I show off my daughter's first vehicle. (You may remember three vehicles featured last time, all dead, suspiciously, at the hands of my older boy.)
We all remember our first car. Mine was a long boat known as the Ford Galaxy 500. It had a 351 V8 engine (Windsor, alas, not Cleveland) and would carry 11 people comfortably (OK college students). This however, is a much more practical vehicle for a young lady who took the Wall Street Journal to school during her freshman year, and now owns her own gun. (She's odd, but we love her.)
So I give you the GMC S15 extended cab with lots of miles but it runs great. Frankly, I'm jealous - driving around in my ancient Volvo with the bad paint and dripping fluids.
Definitely go for the gun rack. The boys it will chase away sound like they wouldn't be boys your daughter would want to know anyway. :) (She seems like every father's dream to me -- you KNOW she's not going to let them be getting away with anything.)
Great "girl and her car" shot -- she looks fabulous and very go-girl-power.
I hope she keeps a print of this. When she's forty it'll be a great memory for her.
My first car was a 1980 Pontiac Sunbird. The thing was an 8 cylinder, and would absolutely FLY (a fact that my father did NOT know when we bought it). It was awesome. I only went through 2 or 3 clutches in it. :)
That's cool that she's not a girlie-girl wanting a pretty little car that costs a fortune. I loved my 1st car, a dodge omni! haha
And by the sounds of the gun rack she's a bit of a tomboy which is very cool.
I like how the reds strips mimic the red strips on the truck. The perspective is great. I love the comments you posted in the thread along with your picture, which sure sounds like a dad's side of things.
driving around in this would be heaps better than walking around in hush puppies!!! ... altho your first vehicle sounds like it would be more my style .. ie .. 351 V8 engine ...
your daughter looks very patriotic ... i have a pair of trackies the same .. trackies = track pants .. !! .. :)
ps & edit .. and i do remember my first car .. it was a toyota corolla and i rolled it .. !! ..
Good angle, other than the distracting power lines. She should be looking a bit more enthusiastic at getting her first car (truck). My first car was also a Ford Galaxy 500 (1964 2 door hardtop turquoise, 352 4barrel). It was a great car, and if I hadn't sold it for something like $500 when I bought a new 1971 Ford Maverick it would be worth lots of money now! So now you have a Volvo? My wife had an '82 Volvo Bertone Coupe, also light blue, and I called it the money pit. I was glad when our son finally totalled it.
