Hi greetings from the CC, a good idea for the challenge, it is well composed. The eight ball should probably be better focused for a precise DOF shot. The lighting will works, may be a little more interesting if it were slightly more subtle. What I do like however is the shadow of the 8 ball.
It is also curious to me that the balls do not seem to be on a pool table?
If you want to achieve sharpness next time I find manual focusing really helps as does adjusting your aperature settings til you get one that works. With these settings you can achieve much more control over your shot. On still life shots I often take many, download them and check what works and doesn't and then re-shoot from what I learned in first batch, just an idea... keep up the shooting : )

I wish the 8 ball would have a better focus

To complete the analogy, and emphasize the sharpness/focus on the 8-ball, I'd put just a bit of the cue-ball in the (left?) foreground, out of focus.

Good idea. The 8 ball is not sharp enough, though.

No area of solid focus. 4

If the photo had something with a soft focus in the foreground to indicate a 'Shallow Depth of Field' I would have given it another point. Where is the focus?, even the '8' is a little too soft.

Wow, this one hurts my eyes a little bit. It's a nice composition, but I haven't a clue where the focus point is. Maybe it's 'Behind the Eight Ball...'

a little sharper on the 8 ball would have looked a lot better.

good idea, but it would be much more effective if you had a sharper focus on the 8 ball. As it stands, the 8 ball is only slightly more in focus than the background. I would like to see this shot again with a clear focal point on the 8 ball.

The 8 ball looks a little soft, or is it me?

Nice idea, but doesn't seem to have anything in sharp focus! If the eight ball were crisp, this would be an excellent entry!

Nice composition, good DOF example. Good job!

The 8-ball looks blurry for some reason

ood idea, but I wish the 8 ball itself was more in focus.

I like the way the shallow DOF reduces the balls in the background to an abstract jumble of colours.

there are no parts of your photo in focus
02/09/2004 07:15:45 AM
The eightball seems out of focus, the whole image just seems out of focus...
02/09/2004 03:29:33 AM
its like the 8 ball is not shap enough
