Aimee's original has a pink background. It is one of my favorite shots. I did shoot one that was almost identical, but it felt "too" identical to me, like I was tracing someone else's art. I'll probably get hurt for the different background, but I just didn't feel right making a total copy. Anyway, a fun shoot. Took about an hour to insert all those pins (several hundred). Shot in light tent to avoid shadow and keep in the spirit of Aimee's original.

I love this photo! You did a great job. I also put just a little of my own style in mine and feel that it hurt my score. This is really good and has just the right Noraneko touch to it :)

Congratualtions on the excellent score. Very nice image. I know just what you mean about doing a straight-up copy. I decided to alter my Deja Vu image a bit myself. A copy did feel wierd - for me it felt more like a technical exercise - not a reflection of myself artistically (not to mention BORING!). I think I payed for a little in my score (2,3,4's). Thanks for choosing my image to do - it was so cool to see it in the challenge! Nicely done. : )

One really has to really have a lot of patience and time to stick over a 100 pins into the pear. A really nice emulation of the original. Lighting is good with all elements evenly light and no harsh shadows cast that would distract the eye from the main subject. I do have a few suggestions on how you can improve the visual impact of your composition. First is to have found a pear with a more even skin color and tone. The patches of brown here & there on the pear is less appealing then one that has a even green skin tone for it looks fresh and healthy. Next the shape of the fruit can impact the appeal of the visual. A pear with the steam sticking straight up out of the top of the pear will not break up the smooth curvy shape of the pear as much as one sticking out a bit lopsided and not directly on the top. Lastly, while you have some detail here it could be much more sharper. Dare I say sharp as a pin? All the pins could be in sharp focus if you use a smaller aperture - a higher aperture of 8 or above can get you nice sharp details in the foreground & background of your image. Aimeethetoo lists her stats of her composition as aperture: 9.0, ISO: 200, Shutter: 1/400. Depending on your light source you may have to play with shutter speeds to see which yields the better exposed sharper shot. None-the-less a good shot but it just needs a little more work to get it into the stellar category.

Nice take on the original, a slight detraction because your DOF is a bit shallow, still a good shot and a 8 from me.

It has a great look, but I think you should have used a macro light on it and gotten more of the pins to sparkle. It seems flat on one side.

I admire the tenacity it takes to poke this many needles into a fruit. I liked Aimee's better but yours is well done.

I've tried this shot before, and can sympathize with the amount of work required. Nicely done.

So did you use exactly 552 pins too? : ) This is very cool and an extra point for the rhyme! Adding to favorites of course!

Nice rendition. Acceptably sharp, but not quite as sharp as Amiee's.

Deja Vu challenges are tough.
