We were driving into Rocky Mountain National Park on our way to a morning hike when we saw him in the grass not too far off the side of the road. I was a fair distance from him, and of course he was warily watching me. But at one point, I looked up and our eyes locked, and I swear, I felt his soul! and I felt like he felt mine and knew he was safe and respected. I love it when you have a soul connection with any animal, but especially one in the wild.

Very cool capture. Very nice editing too. This poor old guy looks like he HAS been through a number of battles. Well spotted!

Sandy, I was shocked that this did not finish higher in the FS as I thought it was a nailed on ribbon when I saw it

I love the fact that you have got a great deal of softness in the image and that the colours almost look pastel. This contrasts wonderfully with the pure strength of the stag (though its expression is one of tender/kindness rather than any type of threat or aggression)

Super composition as well, another simply breathtaking image

Lovely shot, lady! He looks like he has the most gentle soul despite the outward appearance. Perfect setting with the foreground flowers and the soft misty forest and field behind. Excellent processing as always!

Yes, title good! Nice color. I wonder if it could have been cropped to allow the remaining antler to be just a little bit more verticle.I feel that the picture is leaning somewhat to the right since all of the interest is there also. The backgound flows to the right also. The background trees also lean to the right. The animal's head is cocked to the right.Maybe cropping so the antler was perpendicular to the base would have helped and pulled the composition more into balance. I'm glad you didn't saturate the color. I laike it.

The caption on this photo made me stop, it works great for this photo. I enjoy this photo, it says a lot to me. I do wish his antler on the left wouldn't line up as well with the tree, it is distracting me. I am unable to vote, but did want to comment on this photo.

He looks so docile, and yet that missing horn speaks otherwise :-) A beautiful capture with great processing choices.
