focus and lighting are really good here. Use of neg. space is clearly expressed. The angle and placement within the photo is great. overall neat photo good luck in the challenge. ~hbunch7187~

I love this! Is the object in teh sand, or above the sand casting a shadow? Space becomes unknown at this point.

This is pretty interesting, but I can't tell what it is.

The title seems a tad pretentious, but I really like the beautiful textures and lighting in this photo.
09/21/2002 11:33:00 AM
the paper texture is great in contrast to the water.

Really interesting shot. I like it although I'm not sure about the centering.

Don't know if it would be possible, or even effective, but if the water drop had filled up the entire frame, that would have looked really nice and given a nice effect with the black/white contrast. karmat

I think the grainy background is a good concept for a week when the theme is "the opposite of negative space." I realize that people have different definitions of 'neg space,' but mine is 'a major element of the picture should have a very monotone neutral space or spaces. Ok photo though.

Beautiful droplet detail and the background where viewed through the water is striking. However, around the droplet the background doesn't appeal to me. Also, I personally am not keen on the very centred composition.

nice

A real dramatic photo--the reflections in the drop are wonderful and the detail perfect. The tension is palpable. andrewm

Great shot, but it seems to back a bit more NS. I love the color. 7 - zadore

Nice idea. Great detail on the sweat bead. Good job. 6

The texture and detail on this are gorgeous. From the title I'm guessing this is a tear or a bead of sweat? Whatever it is, I like it.

I like it except for the dark specks and would rather it be off center some.

This is really impressive. I RARELY get impressed with an image where the subject is centered like this one. The illumination of the water drop in this image is working very well here... it almost creates a yin/yang with the dark and the light inside the drop. I also like the texture of your surface. The theme or torment suggested here is quite impressive... This shot gets a 9 this week... I would go to 10 if the lighting control was a little stronger in the upper left portion of the image. it's just a tad bit hot up there to suit my taste :) Great shot... - jmsetzler

Overall great photo - nice lighting and texture - doesn't convey negative space to me though.
09/16/2002 10:29:00 PM
I can't decide what I am looking at. (is it a water drop?) It is however a very unusual shot.
09/16/2002 09:32:00 PM
powerful title
09/16/2002 05:48:00 PM
Very pretty. Maybe too much in the middle to my liking. Also, I find myself drawn by the texture of the wall which might be counterproductive where neg. space is concerned. However, it's still a lovely shot. 6

That's a better interpretation of neg space than most of the other pics.

Wish this wasn't dead center and a little bit lighter. However, I think it's good, and really admire your creative mind. Good luck. Score 7 Justine

I really like this photo. Just be careful to watch your dates so they aren't taken outside the date range:)

Definitely meets the challenge; incredible focus on the water droplet; composition is lacking for me, and the photo, overall, does not sufficiently engage my interest. lhall-6

Great work WOW, this is great.(is that skin?) I love the cropping on this - perfect shot for it in the middle. I love the tones. Just one single drop (not sure if it's supposed to be a teardrop) There could be many interpretations, can't go through them tho. This is really great! a wall-hanger for me. 9> now 10 Just awesome

(Updated) and yes, the 'neg space' does affect this and is great

Outstanding composition. DOF is slightly narrow, and causes some of the paper to lose focus in the lower right, which is a tad distracting to me. 8

Cool tone. Great focus and lighting. The centering bothers me a bit. Still, I really like the shot. ~indigo997
