sweet!
09/23/2002 08:03:00 AM
This happened to be the very first image I saw when voting last week and it remained a favorite as I reviewed the others - congratulations on getting 3rd!

Thank you all for the great comments. FYI no humans were injured in the making of this photo. We were on vacation at Lake Mead and as we came up to the dock after a great day on the lake, we saw three teenage boys jumping their bikes off of a homemade ramp into the lake. They were more than happy to let me photograph them. I was just luck to be in the right place at the right time. rcrawford

Very nice air. (From the title you would think he didn't land so good...) Congrats!
09/23/2002 12:21:00 AM
This is soooo excellent. Congratulations. This picture deserves it. I do hope you'll give a little detail about it. Great work!

This is very dramatic, but I'd feel better if I saw a fully-armored biker. Of course, when discussing motorcycle helmet laws years ago with my dad (a science teacher) he pointed out it was just natural selection -- riders with helmets had a better chance of living to reproduce...

I guess you get a "bonus point" for offering up such a "negative" example...

Very nice...perfect timing and just very strong image. Definetly in my top few. In fact I'm giving you a 10. Good luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious

What a shot - Perfect in every way - Except for the helmet, (its a parent thing). I think you will do well with this - One of my 10's this week - Good Luck, Gotcha
09/22/2002 12:33:00 AM
Nice!!!
09/21/2002 11:36:00 PM
Great stop action and colors. I think I would wear a shirt, though ('course i'm a female, so that goes without saying). karmat

Well done! Good use of negative space and good subject! -9

What a great action shot and the way his leap is frozen with nothing but the sky behind him works very well. The shapes of his body, limbs and bike are fascinating, even as a silhouette. I'd prefer him a wee bit higher in the frame but that's a minor preference. The inclusion of just a little cloud saves the sky from being too bland a background.
Wonderful image.

Very dyanmic! The fact that your subject is fully in the air (no grass or road to be seen) emphasizes the excitement of this stunt. The fact that your negative space is filled with clouds pushes that excitement further. Great sprawling of legs and bicycle! 8
09/20/2002 12:07:00 AM
wickedly cool!!
09/19/2002 11:10:00 PM
Finally! A sky shot where the negative space in interesting and pertinent. Nice capture. I like the framing too. 8, just-married

Excellent action shot! The negative space improves the image that the subject is in flight! Challenge well met, and technically a great photo, to boot. 9 - mjcecil

Very good
09/19/2002 11:02:00 AM
Great...Now if we could only see a shot of the landing....
09/19/2002 10:19:00 AM
Excellent Shot! The 'neg space' does enhance the effect of the subject. Very crisp and clean image. Great coloring. Could be a great pic for a magazine ad or something. Great work 10

The ultimate "getting air" shot. Very well done.
09/18/2002 06:12:00 AM
Great job with the challenge.
09/18/2002 01:16:00 AM
I could do that......lol
09/17/2002 10:56:00 PM
Hope he landed safely. Of all the shots I saw using sky as the NS, this one is by far the best...8
09/17/2002 09:56:00 PM
Nice action shot! How long did it take you to get it? (or more correctly, how many pics did you take to get this one?).
09/17/2002 09:44:00 PM
Very well done! I'm impressed at how sharp you were able to capture this one! And the wispy clouds are very nice negative space here.
09/17/2002 06:24:00 PM
I know you only gave me a seven, and I think mine is just as good as yours, but I am still giving you a 9, and I may move it up to 10 when I am done voting. The composition is great, the lighting is perfect, and you caught the image at the peak of action, is a dynamice pose. Good work.
09/17/2002 05:09:00 PM
Great action shot, AND you managed to crop the ground and everything else out of the frame, so it looks like he's catching air in the middle of nowhere. I like it.
09/17/2002 03:27:00 PM
Great action shot that certainly meets this week's criteria. It appears he landed on his back earlier!!
09/17/2002 02:55:00 PM
excellent catch. super crisp. no negative comments from me. the subject matter isnt my fave but that aint your fault. 8. mag99
09/17/2002 01:39:00 PM
One of the very best here! You've got negative space and "wow"! I'm sure you will do very well.
09/17/2002 11:51:00 AM
Exceellent shot. Doesnt really need the large space on the right, the space around him says all that needs to be said.
09/17/2002 09:06:00 AM
kow-a-bung-aaaa! Great shot!
09/17/2002 08:47:00 AM
This is excellent :) The sky and no visible ground create a very powerful element of negative space in this photo :) Great shot! = 10 - jmsetzler

This is a great shot with negative space. Nothing except him and the background. Kinda leaves you up to your imagination to guess how high up he is. Great shot! 10
