Ever had an awesome idea, and just couldn't execute it. This was me this week. After looking high and low for a skeleton key and doorplate, I finally found one only to have a mediocre picture. Ugh.

I sat the door plate up against a box with a hole in it and covered the hole with a piece of blue tape. Then, I used a flashlight to shine through the hole. I used a vice thingy to hold hte key in place and here it is.

Cloned out a couple of annoying reflections and spots (which may be visible depending on monitor settings -- hope not), some contrast and saturation adjustments, histogram adjustments, and Neat Image, Noise reduction (not necessarily in that order).

well exposed! your submission meets the challenge requirements, while i don't understand what locking mechanisms the key would unlock your picture is one of my favorites, top 10.

I really enjoy the spare quality and basic shapes/colors, with a hint of depth; I think this shot is very artfully done. One of my challenge favorites.

i realize the graininess around the key is due to imperfections in the metal catching the light, but some voters may count off thinking its noise or jpg artifacts, perhaps too much saturation in photoshop? maybe a bit of light to define the edges of the key would be better. Otherwise i like this photo a lot. -7

the edge on the bottom right spoils what is a very nice picture

Wonderful compostion and color that has a few minor flaws, such as that I can barely see your background and it appears the image has a lot of lint. Also, the key looks like it's been over-sharpened.

I really like the lighting effects - the whole thing is almost surreal. Is the effect on the key the result of very strong sharpening in the post processing or noise in the original? It works well in this shot.

Nice idea an interesting image. Might have also been nice for painting with light.

Neat effect. Texture on Key looks a bit odd, but overall I like it.
