Sara (Springer Spaniel) came to us before her 5th birthday (May 2005) from a friend because she is dog agressive and this friend was engaged to a lady with 3 dogs. So she was muzzled to avoid hurting the other dogs. He called us and asked if we were still looking for a dog. We happily accepted. In the time we've had her she has really grown into a beautiful creature. He said she wasn't trainable but she now knows well over 30 commands, even non-verbal ones. She is still a little dog aggressive but really only towards dogs that are also aggressive.

I always hear people say their dog isn't trainable but that's total bullshit. All dogs love discipline, it just takes a great deal of patience from you.

Summer 2007 - Sara has mammary growth, it's spreading to her lymphatic system but hasn't yet reached her lungs. Surgery isn't a possibility and won't prolong her life, which could be months or years. It's just watch and wait now. The good thing is she's not in any pain, her quality of life is unaffected by the growth.

Anyways, I sure do love my sweet Sara doggy and I know she loves being our farm dog.

Lovely variety of Sara shots. Great semi-sweet story. (I think springers are territorial/aggressive towards other dogs?). Best wishes. T

In people, breast cancer is so often treatable that the condition is becomming thought of as a chronic disease, especially when detected early before spread. Don't know about the progress for dogs. My heart goes out to you. Print your images for safekeeping, and also be sure to have secure back-ups of the electronic files. You will treasure these visual reminders for a long time.

aww. I hope she has a pain free life for as long a possible. She looks like a huggie bear of a dog.
