This is beautiful, the b/w suits it perfectly. Congrats on top 20 Michael!

fabulous lighting and DOF - a stunning photo of such a common bird done in such an uncommonally good way - the background softness of greys really accentuates the proud angles of the wings and steely gaze of the eyes and the highlights underneath make the gull almost become three dimensional

I came back to look at this...is one of his feet missing? Awwwww! I originally gave this a score of 7 and wanted to come back and give it an 8. Can a score be changed after it's been made? My 8 didn't seem to register.
Great shot!

I got my 8 to show!

I like that it's face is personified. And the look says it is not bothered at all by the loss of a leg. Great catch!

Excellent shot! I love the softness in the background and the way you have managed to catch the birds eye so clearly. Gives him a rather far away, dreamy expression. Poor thing though, wonder what happened to his little foot!

He's missing a foot! Neat shot, I really think the b&w works well. Nice capture.

I like the tones & the depth of field of this photo, but it doesn't seem natural to me - where's the bird's left foot?

Almost a good illustration of that old Saturday afternoon ABC sports intro. "The agony of de-'feet'..." :} Great capture! :)

Wow! Nice job with the texture on the bird. I love the background you got in there to. I hope this one wins. I'll give it a 9.

Amazing shot because it appears 3-D--gives real sense of floating. It looks like the gull has lost a foot, but no hindrance in the air.

Poor thing only has one foot. This is beautiful - seems a touch soft - not focus wise, but like a tad too much Neat Image. I still like it.
