I loved the way the grasses in the background made such interesting shapes and patterns behind the flower in the foreground.

I thought this scene really reflected on the moment and emotion I was feeling at the time I took it. People don't take enough time anymore to see the beauty and hope alive in everything around us...myself included. Lady Bird Johnson once said, "Where there are flowers, there is hope." I truly believe that.

In the hope of reaching the moon
men fail to see the flowers
that blossom at their feet.

Great composition - love the swirling tangle beyond, presided upon by the foreground flower, like an emcee.

Bokeh like this is always a fav. In this case the white lines dance about behind the focused bloom, like a nature ballet.

That's funny. In the thumb I don't see the small flower, I'm like "yawn", and click it. Then I have a small window (I'm checking between tournament games) and I can only see the top half, and I'm like "yawn..." So it's another picture of blurry grass, nothing to get excited about.

UNTIL....

I pull down the window, and wow! What an effective image! Some may think that a "DOF shot" isn't really "messing with unsharpness", and in a sense that's true, this is a different sort of shot altogether, it has a definable and sharp subject, but still...

The image really sings. Good capture!

beautiful thoughts and a beautiful photograph .. as it was scrolling down, and before i saw that excellent red flower, i was thinking it didnt have much to recommend it with nothing to focus on .. and then whammo !!! .. that gorgeous flower, (is it a protea (sp?)?) poking up into that blurred background became visible ... just excellent .. i would'v been tempted to crop off a bit at the top & that's just a personal preference, but i do like it the way it is as well ..

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love all the chaos in the background, and the little flower, sneaking in from the corner..peering at the confusion. Lovin it.
