 This is my new puppy :) His name is Mushu. He is an Italian Spinone, they are known for their human-like eyes.

Not much editing, just a little dodge and burn and a very light layer (5-10%) of gaussian blur to soften it up a little more.

extra info:
I have been trying to work on my pet photography, I think it could be something fun to get into. I set the aperture to f/1.8 to help me achive the blur of the background and foreground, just focusing on his face. It was taken in the afternoon with all natural light and right after his nap so he would hold still :).

Here is another photo taken before he woke up he is so little and cute ^.^... soon he will be huge!

listen i have to tell you i stared at this photo for at least five minutes trying to figure out how it was so silky smooth. it looks like a painting!!! this is just beautiful! i love the doggie's eyes, you did the eyes like you do alot of peoples eyes and i still have no idea how it was done. haha BEAUTIFUL PUPPY! congrats on your top 10 finish!

My absolute fav. Man, what a honey. Congrats. I should've known it was a Spin, but they are relatively rare and I didn't think we'd see one on DPC. Beautiful dog.

Great animal portrait. you get a 10 most animal portaits arent of this quality. YOU should shoot pets for a living if you dont. Have someone paint copies for you or print them onto giclee canvas's. Again wow... psart

I really dont like a lot of the pet portrait on DPC...but this one is different. I really like the depth of field and the sharpness. Great Job!

This is the most beautiful puppy shot I've ever seen. I'm such a dog nut and I cannot figure out the breed. Spaniel or setter?? Just outstanding. The eyes. WOWZA. 10
