My quickest entry ever because of time constraints ... I'm in the middle of a house renovation. Shine the apples, whipe the mirror, place the apples on the mirror on my deck, take the picture, sharpen a little. Voila. Back to painting my bedroom.

I like reflective shots... However, the shot seems to make the subject apear to be floating. Maybe adding one loan apple to the right of the composition would even it out a little.

a bit more room at the top, and this would be a top vote-getter 8

It looks like the apples are floating in air. Great composition and color.

I like this image, but I think the apples are a little too high. Was this shot on a mirror?

Nice staged shot. Like the water droplets on the apples and the sky "background". 8 Swash

This is one of my favorites from this challenge. I might have played around with the lighting a bit to see if the hard flash would look more natural defused. - Great shot.

I like this a lot. It gives the impression of six apples floating. Very colorful, well defined. Excellent.

I think the title kinda ruins it. Very attractive composition and good focus & lighting.

very cool effect ... kinda looks like they are floating .... how did you do this without showing any horizon line? ayme-9

excellent image :) the mirror was a great idea... composition here is exceptional also.. my only critique would be to give that top apple just a tad more breathing room at the edge of the frame... = 9 - jmsetzler

Great shot, can't fault it technically.

I think your fill in light is to bright. Still a nice shot. 9 Niten

what a great idea! i don't like the placement of the apples though--they seem just a little cramped at the top of the frame. still, it is a lovely shot. (9) ~mcmurma

Very creative! I'm betting this is going to be at least in the top 10, probably top 5. Well executed, great colors... what more could you ask!? I don't give many 10s, but yours is one of them.

Love this...great composition...awesome colors...might like a tad more light on the shadowy side of the apples...but it's a 10 anyway! Lisa

One of my top 2 so far. In the top 5 without a doubt if not the winner.
This is my first 10 rated pic. I'm envious!! I'm speechless....

I would have liked to see a little more light from the right. Not enough to lose the dark shadow side, but enough to lighten it a little and give a hint of color there. I love the idea and I give it a 10 anyway!!
09/09/2002 11:27:00 AM
nice concept with the mirror
09/09/2002 09:34:00 AM
Creative, crisp, clear. You have also done a good job at making the apples appear round and not flat with your use of the lighting.
09/09/2002 05:31:00 AM
Beautifully simple. Love the colours. Could maybe have used a little filler light from the right. But that's just a nit pick. 9 - floyd

Great idea, but be careful with the light and shadows. Also watch the sharpening filter you applied (look at the halos created on the edges of the apples). I would have liked another light source from the right. I think your idea is great, and the use of the mirror and sky is terrific.
