Superb tones on this. Reds are hard enough to get right. The colors and DoF are just great !

I like OOF front and back. Yellow on red is quite daring.

I like the shallow dof with the one stamen in focus. You can even see the pollen on it.

Cool flowers in flowers - zinnias? These are great aren't they. I like how they change at different stages of their lives. Good angle and perspective and of course, gorgeous pink!

Very effective angle at which you shot this. The petals all around are nicely blurred and really draw the eye toward your focal point. Beautiful!

I remember when I discovered the focal plane. For me it was a personal discovery, since I have no formal training in photography. It's so important, yet nobody talks about it--yours are the first comments I've seen. I'm impressed! Since I capture flowers outdoors, I usually can't move the flower, I have to position the camera. I know from experience that very small changes in the camera angle & position can have a very noticeable effect on the shot.

Beautiful colors and texture. This holds my gaze right at the focal point, and I find that I want to stay there to explore the tiny world you've captured.

lovely colors & POV...

BTW, thanks for the teaching tip on angles, and the macro lens. I appreciate it!

This is wonderful. You really have some different flowers in Cape Cod (or at least a new way of looking at them!)

It has to do with the angle you hold your camera at relative to the flower; the plane of focus is always parallel to the lens surface, and at macro distances major changes in location of the plane of sharpness can be effected by altering the angle at which you hold your camera. Some cropping will be needed if you want to maintain same POV and alter the angle.
