This is reflection of background print on paper casted on shiny tea pot. Only tea pot opening is in focus. The DoF is kept extremely shallow by using 1.4 aperture.

Anyway, this is my first submission with my first dSLR which I purchased last week. Along with my XTi, I got this amazing 50mm 1.4 lens also (used for this photo).

Looks like the spout of a kettle.

Looks like a close up of a sunspot, this is simplicity and style.

Definitely an interesting image. However, for me, the DOF is too shallow... I would like to be able to make out more of whatever is in the background to help me figure this one out.

the spot of a tea kettle? Nice placement, nice focusing, hiding everything

thats.... a hole. a funnel hole.
06/21/2007 06:09:24 PM
I'm tempted to say it's a hollow point bullet, but the hole looks too small (competition style bullets, not hunting)
06/21/2007 04:32:25 PM
the end of a christmas ornament?

Is this the tip of a pen? Fantastic DOF, great colour.
06/21/2007 01:39:24 PM
Don't know. Not enough in focus to guess on.
06/21/2007 01:28:22 PM
teapot. Not a real compelling photo, too much out of focus (which I know you will know) and the black hole isn't interesting enough to make up for it.

Interesting! I love how you got the "black hole" so sharp and everything else so blurry. What was your aperture set at?

Good use of the rule of thirds. It's the end of some kind of tube?
