 Yes the piercing is real. I haven't worn anything in it in damn near 10 years I think but the hole never closed up. I didn't get to take many shots because this hurt like a son-of-a-bitch:)

eidting:
crop and straighten, shadows/higlightsusing just highlights a bit to bring down hot spots. auto color, levels, curves set to cross process in CS3, hue/sat to de sat green by about 35 and lighten green by about 10, brightness/contrast moving both up a bit. resize and sharpen.

setup: it was prett hard to get me, tripod, alien bee and the camera with flash attached into the closet but it worked. bounced canon 430 flash and shot ab800 straight at me from under the camera.

I am not sure if this will do well or not but I took a shot similar for a 30 self portrait challenge and people said i should have done it for the "stupid" challnege. I figure this could be along the same lines so I went for it. i predict 5.7

check your white balance ... all of the whites look pink on my monitor ... great idea for the challenge ...

YES! That was my first of many piercings when I was 15. I hid it from my mom for months. So much fun.
But I honestly don't understand the picture. The lighting also seems a bit harsh, particularly on the white plastic hangers.

The hanger through the name is disturbing to say the least....

It looks like the subject's nose is pierced by the hanger - hope he's just holding it up! Nice creative entry - might desat the reds a bit because they are too prevalent on the face. Actually b/w might be nice.
