Fascinating composition. It's a little too bright for the feeling that it evokes, though.

great shot but i worry its too easy to shoot people when they are down on their luck long debate!

this is a great photo - leopard pants n all - is she out of a residence or job?

I like the brightnes and contrast of this picture. It gives it a "tense" feeling, if that makes any sense at all. Good shot. karmat

The colors and exposure lend to the harsh reality of the moment. However, the "For Rent" sign is out of step with the homeless person - the two I find are conflicting. Would have been better if the sign read something like "No Vacancy" or "Building Condemned". Does this make sense?

Great mood! There's such a sense of hopelessness here, it's very intense. The sign, the bars on the window, the textures of the street, and the parking meter all meld with the woman's posture to create a very familiar and poignant feeling for me. One of my 10s - lisae

I really like this photograph. It shows her plight. The sign in the window, the bars across the doorway... all powerful elements. Nicely done.

Very emotional image. Memorable.

This is a good photo. With this subject I would say the overexposure works and doesn't really detract from the image. Good framing and placement of the woman within the frame (the parking meter fits right in there). I hope more people notice this too, but the Lucky Charms box is the perfect accent to this photo and the perfect thing to have next to her (for the photo's purposes). The Lucky Charms box seems to be there to mock her "unluckiness". Great job.

Wow! I really like this image. Is this girl in trouble? Or just on here way somewhere and had to sit down and fix her shoe? She looks well dressed but she's sitting on an old-fashioned suitcase. The neighborhood looks desolate. Just can't tell. This would have been so tempting to do in b & w but you did the right thing.

a sad commentary of a life wasted..well done.

mood captured - wasted
sincerity of expressions - can't see pace, but posture/hair says it all here

a tad on the overexposed side.

the contrast seem a bit too much, but for some reason i like it and the over apeal of the photo.

overexposed, but adds to the starkness of photo.
09/02/2002 05:46:00 PM
excellent candid... the parking meter and the for rent sign, along with the bars on the windows give a nice sense of 'urban blight' possibly in this photo... i like it :) = 9 - jmsetzler

Definitely works for me, I feel like there is a story there. I like the composition, and the shot definitely has the feel of capturing an unguarded moment. lhall-9

Great shot, I have been reading you comments last week I think so .... I guess this one is not the 'first one'. i like the picture , but you are going to have 'biased' comments becasue people reading the forum whould know the background .... I think it should not have been talked in the forums before.
I am a little bothered bby the 'background' on the far right of the picture, but not it does not distract too much.
BUT I like the picture a lot. 7 currently, might be back later for a 8. Good luck
