Challenge: The Four Elements II (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Tamron SP AF 180mm f/3.5 Di LD IF for Canon
Location: Home
Date: May 26, 2007
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 400
Shutter: 3.2 seconds

Date Uploaded: May 26, 2007

Setup was pretty simple. I placed a small water drop on a rod. Like with most fish shots he wasn't real. Just a reflected image in the background. 100% unoriginal I know but I wanted to see if I could get the reflection without having the background image show up in the picture, which is what you normally see in shots like this. For the most part it was a success in keeping that distraction out. Only a small portion was seen in the non-cropped version.

Thanks for the comments!

Elementally the best of the bunch. Captures the idea of the competition well and is a great photo. I love the simplicity.

Beautiful picture. I'm assuming the drop is much closer to the camera than the goldfish, so excellent DOF. I love the colors.

I bet this will do really well in the competition -- its just the kind of image that DPCers love. For me, this type of shot is great on the first look, but doesn't have a lot of staying power ... the more you look, the less there is to see. That's why its a 6 from me.

On the technicals: the exposure on the drop is very nice, but the fish is a bit soft. My guess is the fish might be a picture on a computer monitor behind the drop?
