I love the stop action in this, the super clean crisp focus is fantastic as well, very well done shot and the conversion is perfect! I agree with Jon, I would have expected this to place higher even in a freestudy...

The main splash is wonderful and the focus works wonderfully with the bokeh. the railing is a great addition as well as it draws you into and then through the wave splash
B&W was also the perfect choice as it means you have no distractions to the moment of impact that you have captured so well
I can easily see why this would be a favorite of yours - it's got a "something" that pulls you in, makes you linger. And someone makes you think and wonder, too. This is one that I wanted to check after the challenge - very glad to see it's yours!
The splash is cool, but it for some reason doesn't feel like the subject of the photo. And without it being the subject of the photo I don't know what is. I guess the splash alone doesn't hold my attention.
