yesterday burning off .. and it was starting to get dark .. this is my nephew pat, which is short for patrick .. i went down to the fire to take photographs and he was there with his little brother jacob who is 5 and his friend tristan ... i took a couple of the fire .. BORING!!! ... in one of them jacob was in the shot and it looked so much better with the human element!!! .. so i took a few shots and i was saying "can you get any closer" and they were all really good and put up with 3rd degree burns to their faces and hands just so i could get a good shot .. kids are wonderful!!! ... i am now just waiting for the police to come and take me away coz i have been charged with OPD - 'obsessional photographer disorder' with intent to harm innocent bystanders' .. the police, i believe, will be taking me to the NUT HOUSE!!!

roz this photo is just way cool. love the selective desat. And Pat faded in the background gives the whole thing this ethereal feel (if that is the right word.) Definitely not boring!

Tee hee. ..my husband walked by while I was looking at this photo, and he was "Wow'ing" over it too! When I read him what you wrote about the "Obsessional Photographer Syndrome with intent to harm innocent bystanders", he said, "Hey, that's what you have" :) I knew we had alot in common :)

GREAT job on the photo!

Roz, I'm so glad you included the color of the glowing coals because they just really bring this to a whole new level. Glad you added the extra smoke too.
Sorry about the imending arrest ... what some people will do for a GOOD shot!!!!
