this is a burned out car at the bottom of our road ..
i was going to convert to b&w, sharpen and leave it at that, then i got carried away! ...
processing steps were ...
hue/sat adjustment layer to desaturate ..
levels adjustment layer to lighten interior and roof .. opacity 61% ..
levels adjustment layer to lighten roof more, erased this effect in everything except the roof .. opacity 59% ..
levels adjustment layer to darken which i erased in everything except trees, painting with brush at opacity 15% .. opacity 85% ..
adjustment layer in brightness/contrast ... very small adjustment .. brightness +9 and contrast +12 ..
duplicate background ..
reduce noise, sharpen more and clone out imperfection at the bottom of image and on one of the side mirrors ..
resize ..
clone out distracting white bits ..
did ninja for trees and deleted from the car ..
burned a bit of dash that was too white ..
flattened image ..
it is advanced edit to this point ...

increased canvase size about 10% height and cloned a couple of pale white lines at the top of the roof so that roof is extended upwards a bit, to give more of a feeling of being in the car .. smart sharpened .. border .. saved for web ..

and if i had another lens i'd probably be able to create some really excellent dramatic perspectives etc without resorting to photoshop !!..:).. thats a bit'v a joke, coz if i had that lens i'd still be using photoshop for other nefarious purposes !!.

just saw your comment about life getting in the way of DPC. That is a scary thought but true since I am sitting here on a Saturday night typing this up. Oh well. lol

You did a log of work on this one, didn't ya? At first glance, I really thought the background was an old grimey wall - like maybe this was sitting in a warehouse or something. I like what you did there. The white tones that you added make this look like parts of it are frozen. That's pretty cool! (oh, no pun intended lol) So here you have taken a burned out, discarded object, and pretty much turned it into a piece of art. Nice!

Roz,Roz.. everybody else has said everything I would have liked to say. You really do have a novel and unique way of looking at the world. Love this one.

Roz, I really like the angle you chose. Makes me feel like I am warm, very warm, and smoky feeling. Powerful photo to have that happen. I really like the textures that abound here. I'm not too good at picking photos apart, but I can always see and articulate what I do like about them. Hope that's OK with ya'all.

Almost looks like an abstract...so many textures! I love being able to see the forest.

What great detail in this really ugly scene - I can almost smell the smoke from the burning. I especially love the subtle details in the roof of the car. great job roz!

Roz I love the perspective you've chosen of this burnt out wreck. Could have been so tempting to go from the outside - so I love your choice.

Makes me want to go find a wreck of my own - GRIN!

Roz, dear, you have way too much fun! I like the processing on this - a bit over the top for me to try, but you have a good hand at it and it definitely emphasizes the burned-out feel of the car. The trees on the outside look almost other-worldly, like the poor car has been transported somewhere in time and space.

Roz

I like this, great job turning something that is essentially ugly into something that is so visually appealling

Appreciate that there was a lot of pp going on here, but it was totally worth it. In terms of this challenge I always try to provide some (no matter how minor) point where I think a tweak could be made, but I really cant with this shot

Nice job capturing all that detail, especially in the b/w! Love it!

Really incredible detail, and great conversion., Thanks for sharing all the details that is very helpful. I really like the smooth, somewhat soft trees out the front (?) window contrasted with the jagged, rough, metallic interior of the car - great idea.

Love the contrast between the grungy, melted car interior and the beautiful, soft surroundings. Wonderful perspective, Roz. Took some creativity to come up with that.

man what a burn out... serious shot of a terrible thing. I like the high sharpen in it to make the thing seem even more real.

I really love the all the contrasts here. Especially the contrast between the soft trees and bush and the hard interior of the car. Nice work Roz!

What an interesting perspective Roz! There is so much going on, but its interesting! You feel kinda safe on this side of it as you look into it. It looks kind of foreboding. Very creative to get in there and take this!
