Interesting still life - nice limited palette of colours - the red, green, black and beige combo is unusual, and therefore more striking.

What a great concept! I really like the filled boots! What is the red thing under the nearest boot? Great color/clarity/challenge met! 9 Swash

When I started voting Sunday night, I gave this image a prelim score of 8. The last 10 minutes I have been comparing this image with the other boot image. I see some wonderful effects in this image: the raindrops on the boots, the inside of the boot and the red plastic jacket: nice reflection on it in the foreground and blurring interestingly in the background. The grass blurrs nicely too. I have two problems with this picture: 1. it is too busy. There are too many elements vying for attention: the boots with the raindrops, the grass with raindrops, the jackets with all the reflections and the wooden toy. This image would have been so much stronger if those elements had been reduced to just a few. I think the wooden toy is definitely redundant and marring the overall effect. 2. I don't like the cropping of the top boot and I think the 429 x 640 was a mistake (I think the width is 429 but I may be wrong; it FEELS very narrow, see my following sentence). I would dearly love to see this image as a 640x 480, i.e. landscape style, and give all these textured elements some room to expand and breathe. Then there would be much greater overall harmony in the image and tranquillity would exude from it. Great job though. Final score: 8 Journey

a wider angle on this shot would be nice

Beautiful clarity. I like the drops of water on the boots and the grass. The boot appears to be filled with water. interesting touch. at first, I thought that the top boot should be completely in the photo, and not cut off at the top, however, I think I like it just how it is. The rain coat and the little wodden toy are very nice accents. Great color. Overall great photo. Good luck with the challenge.

I would have liked this better if it had only included the boots. I think the truck and red item under the boots distract from the image a bit. (The truck, to me, doesn't seem like a natural item that would be left outside, either.) Just the boots would have been a super shot. The water in and on the boots looks great, and the focus is wonderful!

Great idea, and love the colors. Simplify it a bit more. I would have left out the toy, and maybe tipped one of the boots over. You probably tried all sorts of variations though, I know I usually do when I have an idea and want to get it just "so".

Would have been better without the truck. it's too light and distracting, Without it the colors are stunning.
