Editing steps:
Converted from raw, nine layers of Curves, two layers of Hue/Saturation, unsharp mask, Saved for web.

This is my original, not edited JPEG.
,and one without fill flash
I was shooting this chain from the different angles with my super wide lens without even looking in the viewfinder. I simply put my camera on the ground while holding it with one hand and pushing the shutter release button. I used on camera flash as a fill light.

Just looked at the original version of this pic, and I have to admit because of how the flash behaved I would probably have discarded that picture, I get annoyed when the flash doesn't light up the bit I want it to! I'm glad you were more persistent with it tho cos the way the flash light hits the chain adds the emphasis, and of course without the horribly lit ground in front of it. Nice one & congratulations!

Great shot, Valera. Colors are very vibrant but not too imposing.
I just wish there was more ship in this picture. But then it would shift the emphasis.

I wasn't able to vote in this challenge but this is a truly stunning shot. It would have been a 10 from me. Congrats on the ribbon.

Congrats on your blue ribbon. I probably should have commented
during the voting so sorry for this late comment.
Excellent composition, exposure is great. The fill flash is a little
too bright for my taste but that's the worst I can say about it.
Nice Work.

Congratulations on this very well deserved ribbon. The chain is fabulous, the image is fabulous, and the title is good too. I love the DOF, the composition, the light, and the colors. I gave it a 10, and I'm so glad you won the challenge.

congratulations, i agree about the flash issue ... the photo would benefit even more from non-flash procedure and utilizing advanced editing options like shadow/highlight or maybe even HDR processing. anyhow ... nice photo nonetheless. keep up !

Thank you all for votes and great comments.

Great finish, congratulations on the blue, like the way the chain is highlighted to catch the voters attention.

The only thing i don't like it appears that a flash was used to illuminate the chain and isn't consistent with the natural lighting of the rest of the shot.

Other then that its great.

Great shot, not surprised this won. The depth makes the chain look huge!

Im just wondering how you couldn't see the chain :/ haha

good picture though.

Probably because the eye goes to the sails first, gets lost in their detail, and doesn't really want to drift down to the big shadowy thing where the chain actually is. It took me a few seconds to see the chain, too. Very nice photo nonetheless.

I hope you get a chance to go back and take a pic with out the chain and anchor in the way. Looks like the background could be gorgeous! Thinking in terms of the challenge topic, I actually think the background kind of takes away from the subject. And the flash on the chain does not blend in well with the natural lighting of the rest of the pic. I gave it a 7 irregardless because you have a lot of neat stuff here. Good luck!

would of been nice to see the chain leading up to the ship. other than that it s avery perfunctory shot that whilst meets the challenge, doesnt attempt to show us something with a WOW factor. 6

nice photo but the fill in flash was a little too harsh IMHO. Nice ship! ? //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_India_%28ship%29
