Caught my son by surprise. :)

Took using the Sepia setting then desaturated a bit in PS. Very little editing, just tried to remove some of the noise because of the bad lighting and cropped. That's about it.

Sunday Night Critique Club Special

Altogether a good and fun picture with surprisingly good lighting for a snapshot.
Composition wise a few flaws: To bad your subject is positioned dead center; putting your model on the left of the frame would allow more of the toilet to bee seen (I did not notice what your son was actually doing the first time I saw this image) and would strengthen the composition. Also avoidable: the scalping of your progeny shows in what haste you took that one but does not improve the overall appearance of the picture.
This was a “near great picture”. I know it is hard to think of all those things and also succeed at clicking at the right time.

I have always been amazed at all the parameters seasoned photojournalism pros can think of in a split second when they are capturing in style an event in motion.

All the best, JJ

Funny expression, good tones. Would have liked to see a bit different crop. Perhaps it might have been too narrow, but the left space is unnecessary; could have had a bit more toilet then too to balance, though more toilet is not what I am suggesting.

Bad Points: Skin is too soft and makes it look OOF, being near a toilet doesn't make for a pretty picture ;) Also no eye contact!
Good Points: nice candid capture. Looks old.
Overall Score: 4

Caught in the act, LOL! very cute! I like this shot, the expression on his face and the sepia coloring works well. His hair looks off though, the dark on the top, is it that way naturally? Also cutting of the top of his hair was a bit distracting. Started at a 7, going to an 8

Funny. I like it and can hear the kid saying that! That's a pretty mean thing to do to a defenseless kid with his peepee hanging out! But it worked.lol

Cute. Though, I'm not totally certain what the surprise is - first time by himself, or did he miss...? The tone works well for this shot, and lighting is good. I think a little more of the toilet would have given it a better atmosphere, a little more sense of the moment. 6

*laugh* Very cute and the title ties in exceptionally well with the shot/challenge. The sepia works well here as well.
