I've admired this tree since we moved in 3 years ago. It sits in the yard of our neighbor directly across the street.

From our house, it's too big and at the wrong angle to capture in a single image. The past few nights as I've walked home, I've finally found the right angle that includes as few power lines and other distractions as possible, while also capturing the whole tree.

This was shot at midnight. I did quite a bit of work on it, including using a "soft light" layer to highlight the parts against the sky, a couple of brightness/contrast layers to darken the houses on the ground, curves and hue/saturation to make the sky more colorful, and cropping out several power lines.

For comparison, here's the original:

Wow, Jeffrey. You did a phenomenal job processing that beautiful tree. It is beautiful. It's amazing how processing can enhance a photo to make it look like we see it in our minds :)

Beautiful!

the tree is beautiful with such a symetrical shape- you captured it well and I too like the edited version.

Glad you admire trees too. Odd how we have certain things that just appeal to us. I'm not sure which one I like better the original or the edited version.
What I really like about the edited version is how the light appears to be part of the tree now ... and how the lines have disappeared ... and the improved sky. Heck, I guess I prefer the edited version. It must have been a massive effort to get rid of those power lines.

hi jeff ... i actually prefer the original!! .. but thats just my opinion .. i really like the orange lights in the original, and the white glow at the front door of the house that has the tree in front of it and how the cars and the street are more visible ... i like your processing of the sky tho ......
