Went to the local park today and this swan very kindly did a little dance for me. The light was really weird, it's so misty one minute and then the sun comes out the next, anyway this was the best shot I got in the light available. It looks a little dark to me, but the swan had had enough by the time the sun came back.

Edit -- That is ice in the water, it was quite cold last night!!

Very appealing, in a chilly way. The pose of the forward swan is marvelous.

I like the composition with the branch over the swans.

Jane,

What a great capture! I agree with Eric, this could use a little bit more highlights. An easy, edit would be in Picasa by pushing u the highlight bar.

The reflection is wonderful. I just love swan pictures and I think you did well given the lighting.

Nice job. You might be able to get the whites out a bit more using the Shadow/Highlights menu in PS. Alternatively using your built in flash as fill in backlit situations like this can help keep the subject from coming out underexposed as well.

What a great capture Jane! I can't tell you how many times, I hang around the ducks at "my" park trying to get them all pretty like this with wings spread -- FACING YOU. The blues in the water look so cool. In fact, it almost looks like ice there in the foreground???

I think this is beautiful!
