I like the framing a lot.
Creativity 8, Composition 8, Challenge yes, Photo 6 (too much light reflection on the cheek).
Result 7

Good composition within frame, and unusual in a portrait not to see the eyes. Somehow draws you to the eyes anyway! Paradoxical! Like the white space at the right.

for some reason i like it, even though it's kinda stupid and weird.

Technically a good shot.

Absolutely aweful subject matter. Not visually appealing at all. Oh, come on, I'm just kidding! GEEZ. Actually, just the oposite. I think the photo is very well executed. Focus is great and I love how you are positioned to the left of the photo rather than in the center of the photo. Black in white works very nicely here, and the placement of the pencil is pretty cool. LIghting is good, but I wouldn't want the right side of the photo (the left side of your face) any brighter. Your ear seems to almost fade away into the background. Great job. Good luck in the challenge.

A little strange, but nicely done. Good use of light and shadow - tones. Nicely achieved white background (sometimes difficult for me). At first, marked as a 7, now an 8. Something about this that is keeping my attention. Almost as if you can see thru the pencil and looking out from the screen (sort of xray vision thing). I think maybe it's the shadow of the eyelashes. GREAT work!

just a lliiiitle bit out of focus, and the lichting is not ideal with one eye blacked-out. the idea is good

Nice portrait...portraits are always so hard to get. I like the composition and style, the feel to this picture. Excellent work!

The pencil is not covering both eyes the same which I think is a critical point for this type of photo. And the lightening on the right is a tad too high for my taste.

Interesting idea. But you need a shave. <teasing>. I like your framing a lot.

Love the composition and lighting, but especially love the b&w because to me, it almost gives the photo the quality of a graphite drawing. Very nice and simple. lhall

Excellent idea :) I think you have got the lighting issues under control here! Just for note... I like the one on I saw on photosig best with the broken pencil and the angry look :) = 9 - jmsetzler

This is a very stunning image, and the more I look at it, I'm convinced it's because of your outstanding lighting. You've really created a very effective, tonal image. Great job.

Nice job. The lighting is great on this. The focus on the pencil is just a bit soft. Subject matter is good. 7

Very strong portrait--I like the pencil covering the eyes it gives a sense of mystery andrewm

I want your right eye to also be hidden by the pencil. Still, nicely framed; without the pencil it would make a nice portrait. With the pencil it makes a nice challenge entry. 8
