 i put the leafy thing on an old fence post ... blue look done in raw, white balance/tungsten .. plus a bit more blue in levels & smart sharpen
was going to put this in the 'shallow DOF' challenge .. didnt think it'd go real well ...

I get an interesting perception of very cold, with something not quite right, because of the very alive looking green in the frosty looking background. The green seems to add to the perception of cold for some reason. Good PP to make this what it is. You were probably right about not putting it into the "Shallow" challenge.
